Silo web design refers to the way our Louisville sites are architecturally structured. It utilizes a topical format that follows a strict internal linking structure for the sites category and sub category pages. Categorization and inner linking patterns are key to achieving high SERP rankings. A proper silo construct can rank a site with an industry suggested 90% fewer back links in comparison to a site with a conventionally linked architecture. When a person types a search query into Google. Google attempts to return the website that’s most relevant (helpful) to answer the searchers query. If a site, is designed so that it topically has more, better organized information on a given subject than competing sites. The chance that Google will display it at the top of the returns increases dramatically.
When a search spider comes along to index one of our Louisville silo designed sites and it’s able to come in, do it’s indexing in a topical sequence, it takes less time and gets high marks with the search engine. It’s a win win situation. An added benefit to a proper silo architecture is that the information the site is composed of is topically organized into a very tight structure. This results in website visitors being able to navigate easily to additional information on the same topic.
Examples of Silo Web Design

A true silo web design architecture will link the home page, and category/parent pages to each other via the site menu. This represents the general theme of the site. Clicking on a menu category/parent page link will return a new menu (located in right side bar) with the topically relevant sub category page links shown.
To see silo web design in action click on the WEB DESIGN tab in the top menu of this site. Once you’re on the parent WEB DESIGN category page of this site you will see a new “NAVIGATE THIS TOPIC” menu with red hyper links appear in the right hand side bar. Inside this sidebar are the links to the Child Sibling Pages of this main “WEB DESIGN” categories parent page. Notice that the new menu links them all to each other. When you visit one page inside the silo, the links to the other pages are once again displayed in the side bar. Now go to the top and click on the SEO tab in the main menu. You now see that a new menu displays in the right side bar, but now it’s populated with all of the sub category links from the newly selected SEO parent category.
